The purpose of microbial purification is to obtain Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) animals, which are animals without the presence of specific microorganisms and parasites.
Common methods include cesarean section and embryo transfer. However, since cesarean section cannot eliminate vertically transmitted viruses (such as Murine Cytomegalovirus MCMV, Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis Virus LCMV, and Encephalitozoon Cuniculi ECUN), and is highly dependent on surgical facilities, embryo transfer is currently a feasible method for strain purification that can eliminate viruses, bacteria, and parasites.
