Development
Linearized CAG-EGFP fragments were injected into the pronuclei of C57BL/6 mouse embryos to obtain transgenic positive mice. Under a fluorescence microscope, mice expressing EGFP fluorescence throughout the body were selected as founder mice. By mating the positive mice with wild-type C57BL/6 mice, the B6-EGFP transgenic mouse line was established.
Under the control of the CAG promoter, this transgenic mouse line with the ‘enhanced’ green fluorescent protein (EGFP) cDNA causes all tissues, except red blood cells and hair, to fluoresce green under excitation light. Homozygous mice have normal viability.
B6-EGFP Mice Applications
1. mouse cell or tissue tracing
2. Cells isolated from EGFP transgenic mice may be easier to culture than wild-type mouse primary cells transfected with the EGFP plasmid
